Physical Education (sports)

PHYSICAL EDUCATION I feel most proud of my Basketball Playing this year because it is my favourite sport and I was able to do most of the tricks the coach taught us, sometimes without even trying! From the Basketball lessons, I have learnt the different signals that the ref does when something happens and also how to do all those awesome tricks. The most important skill that I have learnt was how to shoot the ball because I used to shoot the ball the way the netball players did. I also learnt the different types of bouncing. The two most challenging skills that I have tried to succeed in was spinning the ball around on my finger and also bouncing the ball in between my legs. I really enjoyed basketball because it is my favourite sport.

Maths Problem Solving

Maths Problem Solving Mr Tia needed to share 35 meters of rope with four of his students to participate in a knot tying competition. How can we help him do this? 35 4 = 35/4 4 x 8 = 32 + 2/4 = 8 3/4 2/4 is 1/2 so: 4 x 8 = 32 + 1/2 = 8 ¾ This is a maths strategy that my student teacher Miss Lewis taught me. So after she taught me she gave me a problem to work out using the same strategy.

My Winning Speech

Don’t you always want to be happy and laugh loudly enjoying the pleasures of life or to laugh at a funny joke or at least smile at the fact that you woke up this morning? I think being Happy is important because you would be able to happily concentrate on homework jobs chores and other things. Are you always frowning because of mountain of life you cannot climb or are you going through a hard pressing storm of fear that you cannot overcome? You feel like you can’t do anything right? I’m from a strong Christian family and so I can say that I am here to turn that frown upside because ...’You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.’ Philippians 4:13 That’s how me and my family have coped with life. What is happiness? Well, when you are happy your whole body shows how excited and jumpy you are. Everything around you is fantastic. You influence people around you and suddenly they don’t understand why they feel happy, too! If you’re going to a birthday party and you can’t wait to get there, you get happy butterflies in your tummy and you can’t shake it off. But suddenly you realize the birthday is over! You know ...Time goes so fast when you’re happy. I believe everyone needs to be happy because it is the best medicine for your heart, your mind and your body. When you’re happy and laugh no matter what situation you face, you begin to realize that you weren’t even struggling up that mountain and that you just wasted all your energy on stressing out and being grumpy. Sometimes - that's just how powerful being happy and joyful can be. If you are happy and honest while you are young, you will be trusted not only by your parents, your teachers and friends, but the person you will trust you the most is YOU. You cannot let everybody else trust you when you don’t even trust yourself! When I was born there were tears of joy… I know that! My mum and dad cried with happiness. Wow! now that was something to be happy about! I WAS BORN! No matter how much you have or don’t have you can always find something to be happy about. You can ALWAYS be happy for someone else and laugh with them. The world has enough stresses and sadness around and YOUR HAPPY attitude might JUST be the thing that cheers up someone else. They say that being happy actually helps our bodies to build stronger healthier cells…. you’ll be healthier! Is it worth being happy? I think so! It’s the BEST kind of attitude and medicine that anyone can have. If you’re not use to having a happy attitude you can start TODAY. Just smile at someone… Go on! you can do it! Here’s hoping that you can find things in your daily life to be happy about and laugh. You MIGHT as well… because LIFE.. IS.. TOO... SHORT! and WHEN it’s YOUR TIME….. at least you might be called while your laughing. I love life!

I Slept Through One the Strongest Storms that hit Auckland The wind was howling and the rain was pouring non-stop, lucky me, I didn’t even realize I slept through one of the strongest storms that has ever hit Auckland since about 1975. Even when I woke up I felt completely ordinary. Until after school when my youngest sister came to my classroom looking a bit down. I asked her why and she said that her zoo trip was cancelled because there was a storm that night that knocked down so many trees at the zoo so they had no other choice but close the zoo. Thats when I realized that I had just slept through a strong storm. None of the trees at my house got knocked over except one that was knocked over by a recent storm. I was so shocked when I heard from basically everyone in my family that they woke up in the middle of the night because of the terrible storm. I was a bit jealous that I missed out seeing the storm but then I was actually thankful that I didn’t miss out on my rest time. I heard that the zoo had to shut down because the wind blew down a humongous tree at the zoo, ruined some of their houses and even killed the animals in the zoo. Now, because the wind was so strong some people thought it was a cyclone. But it does not end there I heard that it did not only affect Auckland but spread just a bit further. This is my recount about the storm that happened not long ago.

My descriptive writing about my favourite person

Mum is the best I am always looking forward to a warm and comforting hug everyday after school from my beautiful loving mother. I love my mother so much that she is my favourite person. She pushes me and encourages me to try my best in school. She teaches me what she learnt from her past and teaches me what she has learnt from her mistakes. My mum is my favourite person because she always knows what to do when I do not feel well. She takes time to sit down and listen to every word I say. She even listen to my boring stories and jokes but still gives a little chuckle just to make me feel good. She never ignores me when I am trying to tell her something. She is quite short and always has a loving smile on her face. Her hair looks gorgeous no matter what style she does her hair. Her hair is brown, black, bushy, curly and also shoulder length. She cheers me up when I am sad and makes me laugh all the time. I can not do anything without her. I am proud of my mum for all the effort she puts in to looking after five children at a time including me. I know that my mum looks after me because she loves me deep inside her heart. She is always there in every situation I face. She never puts me down and never lets me face any bad situations alone. My mum would have have been working by now, but she loves us so much that she stays home and looks after us instead. She washes the laundry and then hangs them on the line outside. She has never missed a day saying " I love you so much ". She cooks really yummy breakfast, lunch and dinner. She cooks like a professional cook. She looks younger than her actual age which is why she is beautiful. She always looks out for me like a caring mother would. She is like a angel to me and she looks like gold and she is my treasure. My mum is always trying her best to support whatever I do in school and in wherever I go. My mum is such an important person in my entire life and that is why my mum is my favourite person. Moon Presantation

This Term we are learning about space. I learnt that the moon does not change shapes but it is actually the way the sun shines on the moon. The moon goes around the earth and the earth goes around the sun. But the sun stays in the middle which creates the different phases of the moon.

                       BLOGGING
At May Road school there are two digital classrooms, and every single child in these two digital classrooms have a  chromebook each. On our chromebooks we have created our very own blogs.
            What are blogs?
Blogs are actually your own page that you can put any of your great work on and then it goes out for other people around the whole world to see, and to comment on. So you might not want to put all your personal information on it.   however, if you are still in school you are able to keep it private to your class.

White hat:
Did you know that if your work is not kept private, other people from other countries are able to comment on your work?
They are able to comment about anything you put on it.
Did you know that they can comment whatever they like?
Did you know that you can not hide anything that you post on your blog? You can not even able to delete it from your blog,
only your teachers can.
If you comment on other peoples blogs your teacher can ways see every word you write. They are not only able to delete any of your work on your blog but they are also able to delete any comments you put on other peoples blogs.
Black hat:
Some people can write bad comments (that might hurt you) on your blogs. It is not a good idea for you to  put any of your personal information on your blog
Some people will be able to use your information and lie about you and when refuse that it’s not true then they can print your information to prove you wrong.
Yellow hat:
The good thing about blogging is that your family and friends from all over the world are able to see and comment on your work. People can write positive comments, and in a kind way say what they would like you to improve on to make your work sound and look better. If your work is good then you are representing your school and yourself very well, and parents might look at it and say we might as well take our child to that school, because of how well you have represented your school.
Red hat:
I feel really proud of my blog even if I have just started. I feel proud of what I have posted up on my blog. I like having a blog. But for some reason I
feel really aware of what I put on my blog.
